Storyland

After a great time at Santa's Village (see previous post), we had a good night's sleep and decided to press our luck with one more child centered amusement park on Sunday. Without the proper naps the day before, we may have pressed that luck a little too far; however, I'm blaming the tantrums on a hotter day and a larger park.

Throughout the storybook themed park, you would find magic buttons, that when pushed, told you the story or rhyme that related to that display. Zachary poses with Humpty Dumpty.

They visit the little old lady who lived in a shoe (she was real and really was old)

Signing their names on a leaf and hanging them on the talking tree.

A visit to the 3 bears' cottage where they test out Papa Bear's bed.

And don't forget little baby bear's bed.

This tree house was Mikie's favorite part, but not because of the windy stairs, or the the 2 slides, or the circular balcony, or the 4 magic buttons; no, this was his favorite because above the entrance was a digital display that counted how many visitors had been through the tree house.
That's right it was his favorite because there were numbers! When we got there, the numbers were in the 70's and we just "needed" to stay until that number reached 100. Thankfully that only took about 10 minutes. We promised him we would return at the end of the day to see how high the number went. And we did. And it was 3,742

Mary had a little lamb and brought it to school...............It made the children laugh and play.... (pulling rope to ring school bell)

And so the teacher turned it out. There'll be no lambs at school!

Zachary tries to sit down by that spider and is a little frightened away when it starts to descend towards him.

London bridge is one of Zach's favorite rhymes. He'll say it many times at home, but wouldn't do it for a video.
Wait, I thought there were suppose to be blackbirds baked in the pie, not a small child!

Their first ride on a merry-go-round.

Following the white rabbit down his hole led to teacup rides and a photo opt.

My two favorites were the 3 Little Pigs' Houses (with real pigs of course) and the Billy Goats Gruff with a swinging bridge for the real goats to cross (pict below)

When I pointed out that Granddaddy was standing next to the guard, Mikie said he didn't have a sword so Granddaddy pulled out his pocket knife for the picture.

Riding in the "horse drawn" (motorized) carriage to the castle to visit Cinderella.

In the pumpkin coach.

We better hurry before the final stroke of midnight.

We found her glass slipper, but the boys refused to have their picture taken with the princess.

An antique Germany Carousel. Neither of our boys could get the horses to move back and forth by rocking them, so we had to stand behind and push them.

Working on the pirate ship. ROW, ROW, ROW!

Mikie enjoyed the Polar Coaster many times with Daddy, Mommy, and Granddaddy.

Waiting on the train.

Here it comes.

Flying Orcas.

This building was actually the best part of the park. The two story "lab" housed a bazillion nerf balls with machines that you could use to shoot, dump, suck up, and load up balls to send them flying in all directions.

Mikie couldn't find a bag so he discovered a way to carry a half dozen balls at one time.

He'd put them all in his shirt, but as he walked they would drop out one by one. It was so funny, and thankfully he never got frustrated.

The machine that fascinated him the most wasn't one that shot them out fast or dumped them on your head. It was one that looked like a popcorn popper and only spit one out at a time. He, of course, would stand there and count them as they came out and then load up more to reach his desired sum.

Shooting balls from the second level trying to hit Mommy down below.

Another old time car ride at the end of the day, this time Mikie did want to drive, and it was time to go back to the resort!

What? Are you still scrolling down expecting to see something else? More mini-golf pictures, perhaps? How can there be a post without mini-golf? Well, that's because it was Sunday and they were all closed by the time we left the Storyland park. I know you're disappointed aren't you? Imagine how disappointed 2 little boys were that night! Don't worry, you know they'll be more to come the next day.

  1. Ok, seriously, I think an intervention needs to be staged!!! No more mini golf!! JK ;)

I loved this park, it seemed like a lot of fun. But I will admit that just WATCHING that video of the merry-go-round made me motion sick and I can't believe you said you used to LOVE these as a kid!! That was you wasn't it?

Truth now: Are you guys really sick of going mini-golfing?

  5. Storyland looked like so much fun!! I bet the kids really enjoyed it. I'm not surprised that Mikie liked watching the numbers go up for the visitors. That was a lot of visitors by the time you left.

  6. Great pictures and a good time. Funny about the numbers; that's more people than in our hometown. Liked the part Mikie said Granddaddy did not have a sword. (he notices everything.)

The cinderella pictures reminded me of 8 years ago... a lovely couple and their wedding.

I hope Zachary isn't going to be afraid of spiders like a girl I know.
